A Sweet Monday

This week will be a sweet week: the Laker's won, I reserved a hotel room via Priceline, and we said farewell to my cousin Kevin who left for NYC. Though I fell asleep for 3 quarters of the final game, I woke up in time for the festivities. Basketball used to be my #1 sport, but I am really into baseball sans stadium food. I swear, Dodger Stadium should include Trader Joe's as a vendor to include healthy eats. It was my first time working with Priceline and they didn't disappoint. My cousin Kevin left today to work at Price Water House in NYC. My Aunt & Uncle hosted a going away party that included a bounce house and a pinata.

Every Monday I will feature a new service provider who fit our client's style. A few weeks ago, PPE worked with Diana Phillips Artisan Chocolates. In lieu of a cake, our client hired Diana to design chocolates. Diana's chocolates look so pretty that you don't even want to take that first bite!

My Brother, The DJ

Designing a website from the ground up takes a lot of patience. I've been through the process a few times and became very Type A about every little detail. My brother, Darren asked me to be the Project Manager because he needed to concentrate on other things. Darren aka Dj Orbit spent countless hours in the studio producing mixes specifically for this site. It was natural for Darren to enlist Melanie at Apostrophe Ink to design the site and Ja Tecson as the photographer. I am sure most of my loyal blog readers are familiar with Melanie. She is part of my team and I am very grateful for her professionalism and creative eye.
Here are some tidbits when designing a site: communicate to the designer your likes and dislikes; it is important for the designer to walk the programmer though the navigation of the site; if you are adding photos, provide the photographer with detailed information of your direction. One last comment, Ja instant messaged me yesterday and wrote that I punk Darren around at events. Well, that's half true. =) Enjoy!

Sue + Erwin

 The morning of Sue and Erwin's wedding, I received a call from one of the groomsmen asking if I had a Nacho Libre -like mask. The groomsman left the mask Erwin purchased for his guys in New York. My heart stopped and I started to sweat. I was in the middle of finalizing a few wedding related items for Sue and Erwin. I sat at my desk for a few seconds and sent a message via Twitter. @cheninboutwell suggested Olvera Street while @fredegan had one, but he lives in Dallas. I finally was able to reach  Spencer and voila, I found what I needed. The boyfriend saved the day!  We strive to make everything and anything happen for our clients.

Sue and Erwin were married at Park Prive in Costa Mesa, catered by Patina. Their wedding can be described as funky, eclectic, and a lot of pizzaz! The ceremony included both personal and traditional vows, a sand ceremony, and Sue walking down the aisle to Latika's Theme Song from Slumdog Millionaire. Erwin walked down the aisle wearing a light gray suit accented with bright orange and Nike Dunks. This was PPE's first time with Michael Norwood and he rocked it. Heidi Ryder was Michael's second shooter and it was a joy working with her.

A huge thanks to Connie {second, from the left} for referring Sue and Erwin. Connie and her husband Jeff are wedding photographers.

Square Root Designs did an exceptional job on designing the ceremony site, table arrangements and bouquets. My suggestion to couples who are planning a wedding at Park Prive is to design the wedding around the chairs they offer. Nice chairs at a location are definitely a selling point. I am also a big fan of a table scape vs. one center piece in the middle of a dinner table.

Daniel Boswell and his team filmed the wedding and surprised everyone with a same day edit. Daniel is so creative and a true artist at what he does.

Krista + Mike

Krista and Mike are so cool for many reasons. For one, they have a Vespa (I really want a pink one) and two the Vespa reflects the location of their wedding (one of my favorite venues). Their August wedding will be full of fun surprises. Here are a few hints: retro, eclectic, & sophisticated. To view a full post, click here.

Trishia + Jason {Part 2}

Trishias' inspiration for the wedding derived from a photo she saw. It was a pearl vintage necklace accented with intricate details. I love how she brought the photo to every meeting until our very last meeting together. After 8 months of planning, the photo has seen better days! I wanted to incorporated all of Trishia and Jason's ideas for the wedding: capiz shells, crystals, accents of vintage pieces, purples, light golds, creams, mauve, a Rondalla band, party bus, a kid's zone, a dance floor that looks like candy, and 60 people in their Entourage! The list was extensive and we did IT!

As guests entered the cocktail hour, 3 manzanita trees were placed in the middle of the foyer. All of the 305 guests picked - up a personalized capiz shell which lead them to their dinner table.

The ceremony started at 2:00pm and when I peeked inside the ballroom, it still looked like a ballroom. Meaning, the drapery wasn't up and tables weren't into position. I arrived back at 4:30pm and this is what I walked into...

The white-high gloss circular dance floor was positioned in the middle of the ballroom surrounded by alternating square and circular tables. Fleuretica designed 2 styles of centerpieces dripping with clear crystals. The charges are pressed capiz shells personally hand picked  by Trishia from the Philippines. Yes, she flew to the Philippines to purchase wedding related items

I had an amazing time planning and designing Trishia and Jason's wedding. I personally want to thank the following:
Rondalla Band of LA
Aimee at Four Seasons, Westlake Village and their AMAZING staff!
And to all my girls! You gals rock!

Trishia + Jason {Part 1}

As I fluffed Trishia's dress before her first step down the aisle, it didn't surprise me of  all the love she and Jason received from friends and family. After all, Trishia and Jason dated for 10 years prior to their engagement. Their engagement story was eventful, but their wedding was a blast. From 8 bridesmaids staying up until 3:30am the night prior to partying it up in the limo bus from Santa Clara Church to the Four Seasons, Westlake Village

The invite designed by Tianyi of Tiselle letter press + design did an exceptional job on the invite. Tianyi spent countless hours on the design, letter pressing each insert, and gluing tiny crystals to the main invite. The job didn't end there. Since the inside of the invite box arrived with purple satin ribbon, we decided to remove each panel and attach pink velvet ribbon. Thanks to Trishia's brother and the bridal party for their assistance.

Austin Scarlett designed this beautiful dress for Kenneth Pool. Trishia is my second bride who wore a dress by a Project Runway contestant.

Fleuretica designed a perfect bouquet of blush peonies, stephanotis with crystal centers, and soft pink lisianthus with minimal greenery.
